We have the propane factory installed 5500. The manual says about 8 hrs on 30 lb bottle. I've never tested that, but will say it is so very convenient to not deal with other fuel. Also, no worry with propane about gumming up when not used for a while. 5500 works fine with 2 A/C running and elec water heater . Never needed bigger.
