True, cab-to-axle distance is 41.6 inches for GM, Ford is slightly less and Dodge is under 38 inches. However, the differences are not that significant when it comes to maximum turning angle. This is in reference to 6-1/2 ft beds, not some of the under 6 ft. beds. You can't get to 90 degrees until the cab-to-axle distance is greater than 1/2 the fiver width, i.e. greater than 48 inches. As some posters have indicated a 90 degree angle between the truck and trailer is very stressful on the trailer suspension/tires and should be avoided. And in most cases, sharp angles can be handled by simply taking more time jockeying back and forth. In 22 yrs with a GM short bed, I have never found a slider necessary.
