is slider hitch really needed with standard box? (6'5")

I had a drawtite slider since 2005. I always would slide it when backing. That hitch wore out and got very sloppy. I replaced it with a B&W Patriot about six months ago. It is not a slider but you can mount the coupler on center or 2" toward the cab or 2" Behind centerline. Mine is mounted 2" Behind center and have had no problems with plenty of clearance while backing.The B&W is a nice hitch.
