Our concern there is so much banging in that area it puts a lot of shock load on the truck and trailer. Can this be safe over time on these units? We used to have the same hitch. With all the clunking & banging the retaining bar slowly bent to where it no longer connected solidly where it locks in. Over time the sliding bar will also develop a groove where the pin contacts it, causing even more noise.
We switched over to Lil Rocker hitch, much nicer. I did fit into the rails from the old hitch.
