I am sitting here off of Boone Rd. at Johnson Valley. We have been here since Monday. We had a huge area to ourselves. We expected we would have company. However, we have been encroached upon from all sides. We just had someone pull in late Friday night and pull within 8 feet of our group. Now, there is no way that I would choose to camp that close to strangers. Why would someone else want to be that close to us? It is a huge desert. Why do people need to arrive late in the week and encroach upon others?

I only had a 10' extension cord and I wanted to plug into your generator. Next time, I will park 9' feet away. Sorry.

you missed there reserved sign, some people just don,t think, in the morning just say hi, and move.or turn your radio up. might even build a camp fire if the winds blowing there way.

Some of the RVs are magnetic. They attract other magnetic RVs.

This has been discussed several times. Some call it the herding instinct.I think some people are afraid to be alone, even though they go camping to get away from it all.You could own one of only two RV's on the planet. If you parked in the middle of the Gobi Desert, the next morning, the other RV would be parked beside you. :S

Someone should make an inflatable replica of an big, open-frame generator you can set next to your RV when you're out in the boonies. Most people will stay away from those.

Yep this one has been beaten to death. You have 3 choices:

1. Ignore them completely
2. Confront them and tell 'em to get lost
3. Meet them and greet them.. you may make new friends.

As a good sam option 3 is the best bet.

Why not just ask your "new" neighbors why they parked so close? What will it hurt to ask them?

I agree, ask them. However, I hear what you're saying. I think they're "apartment dwellers"....they have lived next to, on top of, under someone for so long, they don't know and feel good about being way out there by themselves. I've lived in the country where I sometimes haven't seen a human around the house (other than DH) for a week or two for so long, it bothers me to be close to others.......I imagine it's the opposite with apartment dwellers.
