Have put my bottle jack on the axle between the U bolts numerous times over 10 years to lift a wheel just barely off the ground. No problem at all to the axles.
Same here with a old '70s 12t shorty bottle jack sold as a Truckers Special made for sliding under the axle tubes next to the U bolts. The jack cane with a tube adapter made from a short legged U channel.
I've jacked fully loaded 16k-22k lb trailers from under the tube on std leaf spring suspension from 1750 up to 10k axles. The tube won't bend or crush or dent as all its lifting is one end of a axle.
Thin wall Torsion axle tubes are another issue.
