just for kicks. how long on average goes it take you to service bearings per wheel?

From start to finish? Or just taking the hubs off and greasing.. Most of my time is spent jacking the rig up and getting stuff ready to do the packing. Once that's all done it takes about 30 minutes a wheel or a little less.

I agree, it takes about 30 minutes per wheel. Includes removing the wheel, drum, seal, cleaning and repacking the bearing, brake inspection, cleaning and adjustment, and reinstalling everything.

Getting the trailer off the ground I think is the most time consuming part. We lifted the trailer last year, so I need to go an extra 6 inches to get the tires off the ground. Once it's in the air I agree on the 30 mins per wheel time to do the bearings and check the brakes.

If I could do mine in 2 hours, 30 minutes per wheel, including getting everything ready/putting away after, I'd gladly do it every year.I have to say, I am way too fussy, in my cleaning, inspections, and adjustments. I can't say exactly, but if I did one side before lunch, I'd be happy to do the other side, and get things put away before dinner.Getting older, everything takes longer,Jerry

Everyone is assuming trailer. Just did my 60K bearing grease on my F-53. Took me 2 hours per side, with the tools handy.

That's what I pay, and it includes the seals. Really doesn't make it worth doing myself.

The local Discount Tires here do ONLY Tires , nothing else. Will let you know if your brake pads are getting thin and or let you come out and peek at the brakes.
That's it nothing else...

I'd hate to hear how much les schwab would charge for a bearing pack !

It takes me probably an hour. I have an air bearing packer and that helps too. But I spend most of the time as stated, Jack up and remove the hub, then I make sure the bearing are really clean and I always replace the rear seal.

I'm a fan of a bargain, but am realistic enough to know that you get what you pay for. At $25 per, I'd be asking myself what kind of job they're going to do. Does this include a new grease seal? Is a junior tire swapper going to do the job? Will they truly pack the bearing or just rub some grease on it? Will they adjust the brakes? Will they properly preload the bearing? Will they properly torque the lug nuts or will they viciously attack them with an impact wrench? At that price, it seems a little doubtful.
