I had been dealing with this on my 2008 Eagle. Used slide out bars for a year or so on the inside of the slide, but that became an annoyance.
The electric slide brake on the slide out motor goes out as mentioned. After taking it to the dealer and their discussion with Jayco, unfortunately you have to replace the entire slide motor because the manufacturer of the motor doesn't carry the brake separate. The cost of the slide motor was about $580 plus labor to replace. Not cheap, but I was tired of dealing with the issue and had it replaced. Hope that helps.
