Our Jayflight would make a chirping noise when the battery power got low. We thought there was no draw on the batteries when it was just sitting, but found the radio was actually drawing power if we didn't take the face plate off. We were also told to activate the battery cut off switch when it wasn't being used. I don't remember if the chirping was coming from the electrical panel or the smoke / CO2 sensor, but it was definitely when the batteries had lost their juice. Hope that helps.
