  • Open range seems pretty decent and at a very good price point. Not a bad pickup although Jayco is already in that market. Seems like a good deal for open range at a minimum.
  • If Open Range treats its customers after the transition as they did before, then I will be extremely happy. I have the 162nd unit that Open Range built and did have a little trouble but the factory treated us very well and with courtesy. If the time comes, I would not be afraid to purchase another.
  • "Surprised Thor didn't snatch them up." I think Open Range would rather slit their own wrists than partner up with Thor! I think Open Ranges CEO and Founder Randy Graber with 30 years in the RV Industry would burn the barn down first rather than sell Open Range to Thor!
    :E:R:S

Starcraft started in 1903! They started Building pop-up trailers in 1964 about the same time that Jayco did. Years later Jayco and Starcraft merged and continue in making tent trailers and RV's. Jayco has been around since 1967. Starcraft is still doing very well under the ownership of Jayco.

Several years ago Travel Supreme failed, when they did Jayco recognised the fact that T.S. was one of the best high end 5th wheel manufacturers there was. So Jayco bought the assets of T.S. and learned how to build better high end 5ers. The results speak for themselves...Jayco added a new higher end lineup of higher end quality 5th wheels to their lineup.

Jayco is a very conservative, cautious family owned Company that has no corporate debt, pays their suppliers in cash, still does business on a handshake, and believes in God, morals and ethics.

So the merger of Open Range as a partner of Jayco is a natural. Open Range under Randy Grabers leadership will be able to continue to build high quality Travel Trailers and 5th wheels....and with the tremendous buying power that Jayco has even better Open Range units will roll off the seperate assembly line.

    It just keeps getting better!
  • I don't know that I'm feeling better. My unit is about out of warranty and it's been pretty trouble free. If I had a new unit I'd want assurance the 2 year warranty will be honored.
  • Must (obviously) be a good businees decision by both...otherwise it wouldn't be happening.

As far as the 'public' is concerned...Open Range future buyers and current owners are feeling better already.
  • According to the link, Front Range felt they needed some backing to continue their growth and hooking up with Jayco presented that backing. Sounds like Jayco may be somewhat of a silent partner with Open Range keeping their branding, etc.
  • This seems quite normal in the business world.
    Mergers and acquistions are common.
  • Whoa....

Both quality manufacturers from what I've heard. But still, I'm surprised.
  • Jayco must see some value in it and Open Roads is probably in financial trouble and available cheap.
