You just have to be a B&W owner to understand that if you do a simple visual test you can't drop your rv.
Make sure the kingpin and hitch plates are touching, LOCK the handle closed and if you want look to see that the 1 1/8" thick silver (easily visible) jaws are closed around the kingpin. Now you can raise your landing gear and drive off without doing a pull test.
Many B&W owners will agree.
Bottom line do what makes you comfortable!
I always did a pull test with the RBW because I did not trust it.
Question for the OP what brand is your hitch? The reason I ask is from walking the campgrounds for years the TV's with damage usually have a Reese/Valley with a handle that extends towards the side of the bed and then turns up to make it easy to reach.
up2nogood,
like always this is JMHO.
It is nice to see that you left the foolproof out this time, there is hope. Remember the points you bring up apply to any hitch . All you B&W guys remember all the points cummins points out are just great UNTIL one of them is not followed, then that foolproof you THINK you got is not so foolproof, but hey ! Cummins that is JMHO .
I totally agree you can drop with any hitch. What I am saying if a person follows their check list it won't happen.
Like I said before I always did a pull test with my RBW it was not so easy as a B&W to see if it was hitched.
I always ask people to stay away until I am done tearing down or setting up. I pulled over a power pedestal and water supply with my still attached cord years ago because I was distracted by my in laws.
Anyway thanks for the civil reply!
The civil reply was because foolproof was left out, no such hitch. That would be nice if we had that perfect world where everyone followed the correct way, until then fifth wheels will be dropped.
