When I bought my truck before the camper it came with a ball in the bed. After hearing about the stress from an adapter I purchased an Anderson Ultimate hitch. It raises the hitch point and is easy to hitch up. Can see it from the cab and is solid as a rock. Easy to remove too, but I don't.
