Joining the 5th wheel world...

I'm heading to Arkansas in the morning to pick up a 35' 2005 Carriage Cameo LXI 5th wheel:D. So if anyone has anything good to say about them, have at it! And if there's anything bad about them let me enjoy for a while before you tell me....hopefully I can get it in my driveway:E!

Welcome to the Carriage world, you will be fine with the F-350 Duelly, I have the same thing only 2002 and pulls and stops just fine. Make sure you register on the Lifetime/Carraige website for forum information from others out there with the same unit. Enjoy it.

I don't have the same fifth wheel. Mine is a bit larger, but I have the same truck. You'll be fine. See my sig for mods I did that were beneficial.
  • I've never owned one, but it seems the smart money is on Carriage as a great unit. You're coming up on the 10 year old mark so check the roof condition.
  • I looked at new one on a dealer lot once and I loved it. It must have been an early 2000s model. The wardrobe that slid with the bed was a great idea. The bedroom was the size of a dance floor. Good choice! Craig
  • Welcome to the world of fivers. I had a 2011 Carriage Cameo and loved the build quality. It was a shorty so I ordered a Lifestyle (basically Carriage carry-over) back in November. I love it and tis quality is definitely there. May I encourage you to joing the Carriage Lifestyle owners forum for a wealth of info from experienced Carriage and Lifestyle owners. Safe travels. • You should have a very nice camper for a long time. I toured the Carriage plant during that model year and I was ready but wife didn't like colors so ended up with a Newmar Kountry Star. Have Fun learning all of the systems as each manufacture does things slightly different but the same in many ways. Randu

Carriage has a decent reputation. That is a nice 5vr.

What are you using for tow vehicle..........not your 2006 F150 ?

Oh no, I have a 2000 f350 7.3 dually diesel...and I hope it's enough truck! Guess I will need to do a little updating and even get the things needed to post pics. one of these days.

  • The biggest camper I ever pulled was a 28 ft. 5th wheel, but I've driven everything from compact cars to tractor trailers, so the size doesn't bother me, at least not yet.:)
  • Congrats on the new-to-you 5er. Cameo's are reportedly to be well-built and one of the best brands out there. If you've never towed anything this big, there is a bit of a learning curve but shouldn't be a problem - just take it easy and don't cut corners...literally.
