Just a Heads-Up on Toy Hauler Tires

We have the 225-75-15 size tires on my dad's Jayco Eagle TT and have had a heck of a time with tires lately. So I've been looking into tires for him quite a bit recently. It came with D-Rated Goodyear Marathons that lasted 4 years with zero problems then started popping one by one, even thought they looked fine (good tread, no cracks, etc.). Even the one that had been the spare with zero miles failed on like the 2nd trip...probably less than 1000 miles on it. One happened on a trip so we bought a tire on the road and it was a E-Rated Hercules something or other. Another was replaced with an E-Rated Carlisle. Then my dad decided to go replace the rest with new E-Rated tires. So he bought 3 Akurets. Those tires are junk and started coming apart in about a year. They also run noticeably hotter than the Hercules or Carlisle tires that were also on the trailer. I found one with a huge bulge in the tread last week while checking pressures prior to our vacation. Then, on my way home from vacation, I could see another one was starting to get a rounded profile across the tread, but just on half the tire. I probably should have changed it out, but I just kept a close eye on it as we were almost home. So he just replaced those with E-rated Carlisles since that is the only other brand his local tire dealer had in stock. Funny thing is the dealer said nothing was wrong with the tire with the rounded tread profile. :/ The Carlisles seem fine but online reviews are mixed. The best reviews seem to be for the Maxxis tire. Nobody sells them locally here, but they are available online from various places including Amazon for about $125 and free shipping. And then you have to get them mounted and balanced. We will probably buy those next time if the Carlisles start failing.
