King Pin Rust

I know it's not a huge deal but my king Pin is rusty. Would it be a good idea to use some rust remover like Boeshield T9 or something similar and then spray it with Lithium grease or just not worry about it at all?
  • When I had one i just slathered it with turtle wax. Worked as a lub and water repellent. It's what I had on hand at the time.
  • Use a rust converter or sand it off there, then grease it so you don't have issues down the road.

X2. There's no reason to do anything more with it.
  • Once a year I wire brush it down....shoot some black rustoleum on it.
Then occasionally smear some wheel bearing grease on it (light film)
  • Assuming it's the typical light layer of surface rust...I wouldn't worry about it other than a light layer of grease.
  • Thanks everyone. I'll give it a light scrubbing with a rust remover and then get it lubed up for the upcoming long winter season.
  • The pin should be lubed. The lube can be protected by slipping a 12 oz tin can over it. This only works if the can was opened with an opener that cuts on the edge of the rim, not inside the rim.
  • I used a spray rust converter that I got from Harbor Freight. It is cheap but works great.
