I just been there and done that. That valve with 6 foot cable is available on amazon. Check and make sure what size you need. My galley valve was 3".
It comes with instructions on how to cut the cable to the length you want.
Since it is summer time, as an interim, you can get one of those slider valves that twist onto your outlet just like the cap does. I did that last winter in FL when my black valve started leaking. Worked great.
