kitchen slide noisy and jerking

I have a 6 month old 2015 Keystone Montana High Country 305RL with 3 slides. Last trip out, I purchased seal lube for the gaskets and applied. The kitchen slideout now has a noisy and jerking motion when moving in or out. It is the cable slideout type. My first thought was something out of adjustment, but the dealer said the lube I applied to the gasket on the bottom of the slide is causing the slide to drag and bind on a wear strip that is located just inside the the camper between the camper floor and the slide out floor. There are no visible rollers on this slide as on the other 2 slides. They are still working smoothly. Could this be a correct assessment of the problem or is it something else causing the dragging and noise. He told me to wash the area with 409 and water and it would get better with time. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
  • Resurrecting an older post, but I have the same issue, same 5th....Montana HC 305RL. Slides have functioned fine for 2 years until I sprayed them with Protect All slide lube. I have sprayed them before but now the kitchen slide is jerking bad. I Googled and found these posts. Just signed up and posting to see if anyone else has seen this happen. I have cleaned them and hope that will help. Quite strange that using a slide lube causes this.

    I went out in the barn today and threw some salt up in the air and whatever and tried pulling in the slide like i referenced above.

    Lordee a blind squirrel can always find an acorn, all was well and it worked like new.

    Give it 3 to 5 days and then try.

    it worked for me.

    let us know.
  • I have applied the 409 and water hose. It has helped, but there are spots when working the slide that it still grabs and binds. Dealer said it would take a while but continue the 409 and it will get better with time.
  • So, did you follow the dealers advise and clean the lube off? If you did and it's sill reacting the same, then maybe a trip back to the dealer for warranty work is in order. They make a spray lubricant for the rubber seals around your slide-outs, and a different one for the metal moving parts. I suggest using a product that is designed for the purpose needed.

    Personally, I use only this stuff on mine:

    and this for the rails and metal parts:

    Sometimes looking for cheaper ways to do something cost more in the long run.
  • I just did the same thing to my large slide on the Laredo. i put aerospace 303 on the bottom of it and it started raising holy he**.

    I decided to let it set for a few days and then try it.

    If that won't do it it is 409 time for me also.
  • It does seem likely, since it started right after you applied the lube. If the seals/wipers are a bit sticky, I'd put some baby powder on them, on the slide in question, and see if you notice a difference.
