Or actual events by people that I've corresponded with. K&N oil filters with the nut on the top are thoroughly vilified by people who have had them fail and dump oil directly in front of their rear wheel. Talk about something that will get your attention in a hurry. Either the filter starts to leak around the nut, or the O-ring is improperly placed to seal the filter, and that results in the oil getting dumped on the ground. Not hype, not internet folklore, real results from real people.
Obviously a registered distributor of K&N products will be totally unbiased. Riiiight.
I've used K&N air filters on my bikes for over 30 years, but I wouldn't put a K&N oil filter on anything I cared about.
