I've used K&N air filters on my bikes for over 30 years, but I wouldn't put a K&N oil filter on anything I cared about.
Wrong. Just because I sell them don't mean I endorse their usage, why I put in the comment about the filters and the MAF sensor.
Now, that you've laid the groundwork for your claim... Care to provide a link and I mean not a heresay link but an actual substantiating link?
In all actuality, the spot welded on nut is font for tightening the filter, it's there for removal only. ANY AND ALL OIL FILTERS SHOULD ONLY BE HAND TIGHTENED OR, 1/2 TURN PAST THE POINT AT WHICH THE GASKET CONTACTS THE FILTER FLANGE No exceptions.
If you used the nut to tighten an oil filter (and deform the gasket or 'O' ring in the process, you are the nut doing it, not the spot welded nut on the end of the case....
So, having said that, pleas provide a substantiating link or cease commenting about things you have little knowledge about other than Internet 'knowledge'.
