Landin Gear (again!)

So added the second motor to my landing gear on a separate switch, bought the kit from the MFR. Speed of gear is greatly improved but now they're failing again. Seems as if they don't stay sychronized as they lift the trailer, one goes faster than the other and then starts to skip. I know I need to pull them both out now and replace the bevel gear/roll pin. Thought about reinstalling the link but don't know if that's the answer. Since we boondock in the desert almost exclusively there are many times I need to raise/lower the front quite a lot to get level, actually had to dig down the rear wheels of the TV to get hooked up Sunday.

What a PITA!

Any thoughts?

  • Only thing off the top of my head, re-wire with the same length leads. May be getting a bit of voltage drop if one leg wires are much longer than the other side. I have the bullydog dual motor system and have noticed the same. Need to rewire mine also and see if it helps. Been that way for a couple yrs with no issue though.
  • I have to raise mine a good bit to level at home. The OEM single Motor system just wasn't up to the repeated challenge. Then I left on leg partially down and bent it badly. The cure was to install a completely new system. I went a Ultra-Fab dual motor kit similar to this one -->
Ultra-Fab Deluxe Electric Landing Gear Set

I got lucky in that swapped right in with no issues.
