Landing Gear Problem

My landing gear works (slowly) when cord is plugged into truck, but has stopped working on shore power. The 30 amp bus fuse near switch appears not to be blown. Any ideas?

  • Well, that all makes sense, and I appreciate the help. My battery is less than a year old. I took the tops of it, and it was about dry. I filled it up with water. It may be toast, but I'm hoping it will charge.

Heavy loads, landing gear, large slideouts, need a healthy battery, even when on shore power. A clue, in your case, plugging into truck helped a little. Just a small wire from truck plug to camper battery. If you used heavy jumper cables direct from truck battery, to camper battery, landing gear should work like normal.

  • Even when your plugged in to shore power your landing gear still pulls power from your battery. Check your battery I'm guessing your going to find that's it's bad. If you can get your hand on load tester that would be the best way to test the battery.
  • No, I haven't, but I will. Didn't know it depended on battery on shore power.
  • Sounds like the battery may be discharged, or need replacing. Have you checked battery state of charge with a meter?
