Leaky water connections

My brother in law has owned his rv repair business for 20 years. He swears by "Fair-it" fittings and says he has never seen one leak. My 2005 Forest River came from the factory with flair-it fittings. Forest River must like them too. I have used them in many other applications with success.

I thought they would have them, but not the Lowes I just went to a few minutes ago. I tried Home Depot, Camping World and an independent RV repair shop, nothing. I would think if there was an adapter for PEX to 1/2 inch hose, DRV would have used them in place of their kludged up double clamping.

Lowes has PEX to hose adapters for barbed fittings and clamps.

The ShurFlo water filter has built in barbed fittings on it for a hose. Therein lies part of the problem.

The hoses are larger inside than the pex. I don't think the Shark thingies will work on the reinforced hose.

You could eliminate the reinforced hoses and run pex with sharkbites exclusively.

Yep, using a 40 psi brass home type Watson water regulator.
I don't think I made myself clear here. The problem is connecting the "hose" to Pex fittings with hose clamps. The hoses are larger inside than the pex. I don't think the Shark thingies will work on the reinforced hose.

Can we all assume you are using a water pressure regulator? If not, it will leak for sure even with shark bites.

Shark bites are the bomb! We had a t-fitting snap in two on the first HOT day of summer. The condensation was running down the side of the trailer, and I thought the water heater had blown. Came inside to check, and sure enough, water all over under the sink. Shut the water off, tracked it all down, and that tee was gone. Wouldn't have found it without the a/c on high. We replaced it with a shark bite. No issues at all!

Or you can use compression type fittings to replace the leaking band-clamp type.
