I joined RV Consumer Group looking at another 5th wheel. I really didn't know much about Arctic Fox or Fox Mountain at that point. When I saw that the Northwood Mfg. products were at the top of the scores in all areas in that price range, I knew it would be a Northwood product. I searched out the dealership that had them on their lot and went and looked at a number of them. I spent most of the day on that lot and by the end of the day it was obvious to me why they had such high scores. So to answer your question, yes, I am partial to the Northwood RVs. Arctic Fox and Fox Mountain are pretty much at the top of the scores in their price range.
Like the Arctic Fox and Fox Mountain, I've seen the Jayco Eagles before but I've never known much about them other than what I've read on these forums. So I just logged on to my subscription of RV Consumer Group to see where they fall in the list.
Where the Fox Mountain is considered a "Snowbirder" (ideal living conditions for at least six months out of the year), the Jayco Eagles are rated a "vacationing" (ideal for 2 days up to 2 weeks at a time for a total of 60 days a year). I'll not post the actual numbers but just suffice it to say that the Jayco Eagle also falls below the Fox Mountain scores in both "Reliablity", "Value" and the overall star rating.
My comments were replies to the original posters question, not to start a trailer battle. Several people mentioned the Arctic Fox line and I joined in on that as well and my other point is that RV Consumer Group is a great resource for somebody that doesn't want to just roll the dice with any brand but rather to help educate theirselves in buying a trailer that has an earned reputation for value, reliability, livability and overall owners satisfaction. Just trying to help out by passing along a great resource that was passed along to me.
