Least problematic brands and dealers

We have a Salem Sport fiver; it's nice enough but far from ideal and will be searching for something more suited to our lifestyle. I keep seeing some nice floor plans out there but, when researching, seem to find some common things that would infuriate me in a $70,000+ rig (slides not sealing/cutting up floors, electrical, doors not aligned, leaks, appliances not working, broken trim that's not available from the manufacturer, etc) The biggest complaint, however, is how each company or dealer handles the claims. Our Salem has some of those issues but I paid less than 1/4 of what the higher end unit go for, so I'm not complaining.

Are there any brands and dealers that seem to go above and beyond? I live in Navarre and Camping World is very close, but they seem to have a bad rep, as do the brands they carry. Dixie RV is not far, and I see a lot of Fleetwood coaches from there.

  • We just bought our 2nd Arctic Fox, we bought our first one used and put many, many hard miles on it, never had a problem (except a few I caused myself). When we decided to get a newer 5th wheel, I did the same intense research and came up with the same manufacturer. AF is good quality for the price. The other candidates on my list were too expensive and too heavy.
  • You will get a lot of answers on the best depending upon what folks own. That being said, we have had four or five Jayco's with little issues. However, this year we ran into a pretty big issue that we did not feel comfortable having the "tech" at the local Jayco fix. We drove it back 500 miles to Jayco. The total bill for the repairs 0.00. They felt it was a problem in the build and that we should not have to pay for it. Mind you the unit was 4 years out of warranty., we did have to pay them $ 270.00 for three hours of work to fix our water heater lines that were leaking and for the life of us, we could not find the leak. They did. Yes it cost us gas to get there but we still came out way ahead!!!!
  • We just bought a Heartland fifth wheel.
    There's a few cheesy items I don't like.

I called Heartland about a few things and they sent us new parts no questions asked!

The brands we found that looked great as far as attention to detail:
    Keystone Montana
    Arctic Fox
    Bighorn

    Strange about dealers also,
The Roseville Camping World is right around the corner from our house (almost)
We have always been treated very well at this location.
Others have rated this location not so good.
Difficult to recommend a dealer unless they get consistently bad reviews.
