Leaving 5th Wheel Hooked to Truck

I am leaving Friday for Ocean Lakes. Due to rain coming in and lack of time due to work I was wondering if I could hook up today? I so, I would need to use landing gear to take the weight off the truck? How about unhooking? Rain/moisture cause problems?

Thanks

  • Same here, almost all the time that we are going on a trip, or are going to be leaving a campground early in the morning....we'll hook up the night before and be "ready to roll", the next morning....We've camped over night and left truck hooked to 5er. Sometimes I'll use the front landing gear, most times I don't...Never had an issue with truck or 5er....No problem with what you're wanting to do...have a safe trip:)
  • We always hook up a day or two before we are leaving if weather is likely to be questionable. If there is adequate room, we also hook up the night before when on the road as we like to get an early start. As you said, leave the legs down to take weight off of TV and to provide stability.
  • You can go ahead & hook up now. I will often take some weight off with the landing gear but I am not sure you have to.

Edit: We'll be at Myrtle Beach State Park in two & a half weeks, enjoy!
