Leaving 5th Wheel Hooked to Truck

We recently came back from NC, and wanted anearly start. Had a pull thru, lowered landing gear and pushed auto level! Water and power connection and we were ready for the morning! No problems inside or out, disconnected and underway in 5 minuets!

Shouldn't hurt anything but do your pre-takeoff checks as if it wasn't hooked up. Real easy to miss something if you aren't following normal procedure...power cable still hooked up, something fragile sitting on the table, etc...

I can partly understand the rain, but time?

I have left work, needed to install hitch and air up tires, pick up DW and dog, along with the refer food, covered a distance of eight miles from work, to house, to storage yard, hooked up the 5er, Start the refer and load (required putting out both slides), and been on the road one hour and fifteen minutes from the time I left work. I don't think we were in the storage yard more than 10 minutes.
No not the norm, we decided that morning to spend the weekend on the coast. :)

Devils advocate is right on! You are making many of us, especially me, feel pretty old.:o

I used to do things like that 25 years ago, but now, not so much.

You must be much younger than I, or maybe you did this example 25 years ago. :B

I prefer to head down the highway a little bit and always stay at Huntington Beach. I prefer the large sites and getting away from the Myrtle hustle and bustle. Enjoy

Sure, that is what I always do when leaving from home. Been doing it that way for years.

All I need to do is unplug from the house voltage, check to see that the frig. switched over to propane, hook up the 5th wheel trailer cables, & go. Everything else was done before time.

I don't leave the landing gear down that night either. I'm pretty sure the truck springs can take it.

There have even been a few times (very few), that I spent the night in a rest stop/parking lot. I certainly did not disconnect then. And I do not recommend trying to get a nights sleep there either. Too much noisy activity going on.

I agree with others. One thing to remember, if frig is running, keep FW close to level, if you put landing legs down, to take wt off from truck.
