Liquid Roof EPDM Coatings

Haven't found the bad yet. One coat coverage, and so far 3 years and counting it seems to be holding up just fine. I know there are other products on the market but my experience is with the Liquid Roof brand.

I bought mine from Amazon, I believe Dyco was the brand. Seems to be holding up fine 2 years later.

My 2001 Sunnybrook had a EDPM roof that I redid a few years back using this product. My roof required the primer coat prior to applying the main coating. Do some research and prep and prepare the roof surface and it will do well. Good luck it's not to bad a job if your prepared and planned out the day you start.

For me the bad is the 2-3 hour pot time plus the prime coat must not fully cure before applying the top coat. So I need to put on the prime coat, wait until it is tacky but not to tacky and then mix the top coat, spread it, and finish in 2 hours. Pot time on a hot day is 2 hrs. Since 2 hours is the amount of time the manufacturer says it takes to spread on a 30ft RV roof, I will need to hurry and I do not like to hurry when on the roof.

I will look for another product with a longer pot time and less dependent on a primer that must be tacky but not to tacky.

I am looking at Black Jack products.

Call RV and Marine Technologies and talk to them about Rapid Roof. Best staff ever w/ 10 year way. I applied it professionally for 15 years.

If you don't mind why did you need the primer ? did you have the Alfa EPDM roof ?

I used Liquid Roof on my EPDM rubber roof about a month ago. 40' fiver. The company has a 6" strip of polyester material 10' long that I used on the joint between the front and rear caps. Embedded it into the material when applying. I over bought simply because the company is in the Northeast and I'm in Arizona. Get the roof as clean as possible. I used mineral spirits to clean the dirt off the Dicor sealant at roof vents, etc. You will be surprised how easily it comes off. My roof radiuses down the side about 1 1/2 inches. So I masked the sides about a foot down and covered the slide covers also. All this work was done before the coating day. On coating day I dusted off the roof with a DRY dust mop. Then we mixed the material, adding in the bottle of catalyst, stirring with a half inch drill and a paint mixer,(Harbor Freight, Lowes). Using the five gallon bucket is VERY heavy, so we dumped some in another plastic bucket and hauled it to the roof. I would dump some out of the bucket onto the roof. Tried spreading it with a foam squeegee that was totally worthless. I tried finding a decent size rubber one with no luck. Threw the foamy down and just used the roller on the stick. Also used a paint brush around all fixtures. This stuff is sort of thick but yet slingy. While I did the upper part a friend did the radiuses with a 1 1/2 roller working from a ladder. Glad I masked stuff or clean up would have been tiring. Use very dark sun glasses as this stuff creates quite a glare. After a couple of days, I looked at it from a ladder. Then when it was dry, I took a look/see on the roof. I could see where there were some places I was light on the application. So I still had plenty of coating lefted and I called the company. Asked when I could re-coat and was told to wait 30 days. So three weeks ago today repeating the same everything we applied the second coat. Turned out very well. This stuff is self-leveling and really coats well. Last week after it was dry, I re-installed the solar panels and are good to go! Wear the oldest, trashiest clothes you have! Have some help and have all your ducks in order before starting to coat! I'm very pleased with the outcome. Won't sugar coat it, but it is labor intensive. I had absolutely no trouble with pot life, thought I might with the Arizona low humidity and 70 degree temp but was a non factor. If I can be of more help just PM me.
