That's absurd. How many trailers have you seen scattered all over the highway? What made them fall apart? Just driving down the road or the result of an accident? There's not a trailer on earth that won't be scattered all over the highway as the result of an accident.

There is absolutely nothing defining what light should mean on a trailer. Again, all marketing.

Lite trailer models are made for:
1. Light Duty TVs like F150 and 1500's.
2. Not heavy use like full timing.
3. Not to be used in colder weather.
4. Not used in high wind, as a piece of paper may blow off the table with all the doors and windows closed.

Generally speaking quality follows price in RVs.

If you are going to be an occasional weekend warror, then a Lite unit "might" be ok for a few years.

Actually, I don't think there is any difference, except the association of "Lite" with Lite Beer, .... you know, fewer calories, for an RV ... fewer pounds!

I’m surprised at the almost unanimous negative response to light models and how many are out there. I appreciate the insight.

Less material used to construct the trailer most generally. Some premium brands such as Livinlite and Airstream use more expensive materials to reduce weight.

I personally would stay away from any RV marketed as being "light". It must mean one of two things: either they took out some things and cheapened it to reduce the weight or they used higher priced engineering and materials to maintain structural integrity at reduced weight. Either approach I don't need.
In my experience looking at campers often the light ones are a bit narrower and shorter. Many of them lack enough headroom in the shower so they compensate with a "dome" above the shower. It makes me feel like I'm wearing a space helmet; no thanks.
Lite can also mean smaller tank or thinner materials, neither of which is desirable in my opinion.
Yes, my tow vehicle is a diesel dually so that does help me to ignore the "lite" models more than someone who owns a 1/2 ton SUV for instance.
