Little to no sound from speakers

I have a Keystone Raptor with an Alpine CDA-956 radio and an Alpine MRP-F250 amp. We just uncovered the camper, plugged it in, and turned on the radio. There is little to no sound coming from the speakers. We have checked all the fuses and connections, and pressed the reset on the radio. This is occurring I all modes (radio/cd/iPod). The amp light is also lit up. Any suggestions?
  • You either have a mute button on or the amp isn't putting out audio.
  • My receiver is old but it has a "loudness" button. Doesn't mute the speakers but makes them barely audible. Maybe you have a similar button?
  • I do get a little sound out of speakers, but the volume has to be up between 14-20. There are 4 speakers inside plus a sub and 2 outside. They are all doing the same thing.
  • if you checked the speaker switches, next check the radio/receiver and determine if there is a monitor, mute, or some other switch butied in the menu.
  • I know this sounds weird. Tap the speakers with a sharp rap. We have two out of four speakers that go "quiet" and a rap on them brings them right back. Ours is a Outback, built by Keystone, so give it a try.

I'm too lazy to found out WHY they do this. It is easier to tap on them when they do.
  • I have no useful answer to your problem but, you are welcome to camp next to me.
  • First, try something other than the radio into the amp so you know what you're dealing with.. If a replacement input is also dead, and you are sure there is power to the amp, look for a loose ground return wire from the speakers.

While in practice you should home run all speakers to the amp, its not unheard of to run a common ground return to the speakers to save wire. IF that's the case and that wire is loose, you will not hear allot of audio out of the speakers and it will sound funny because you will be hearing the difference (only) in the stereo playback to the 4 speakers. I've seen this twice.
