If 'new' 5th wheels GVWR is more than current truck is capable of towing (ESPECIALLY carrying the wet pin weight) then you will not have enough truck

If it does.then you can load up as you want.

There is no AVG cargo weight.

I have a cargo rating of 2,734 pounds on my 30' 1997 Bounder. It has a 100 gallon fresh water tank (800 pounds) and 75 gallon gas tank, 15 gallon propane tank.

I checked the weight while on a 2 week vacation, with full fresh and gas tanks, and the weight was 16,500 pounds with 2 dogs and people inside. So I was using around 2,200 pounds of my cargo rating for people, dogs, and camping gear, water ect. I had stocked the refrigerator before going for 3 nights dry camping, then going home after that.

Remember the 5th wheel hitch itself will come in a 150 pound crate!

Everyone is different, but when we are fully loaded for a week, 4 people, 1 dog, we have about 2,000 lbs of "stuff" on board. Still have room for 1,000 lbs according to trl GVW.

Put it on the scales after you load normally. That's the only way to know. Anything else is a swag and most likely on the low side.

It really depends. Some folks view of what is an absolute necessity is different from my view of what is necessary. That being said, we have been between 1,800 and 2,000 pounds for our extended trips (4 to 6 weeks). We rarely carry fresh water in the tank since we do not boondock. Instead we keep a couple of gallons for flushing on the road.

Instead of guessing and worrying, just plan based on the trailers GVWR and you should be safe.

It sounds like you aren't wanting to pack lightly, so best to figure worst case weight. You will have to use the GVWR of the FW as the total weight. The pin wt will be 20-25% of the GVWR.

Load the truck with the people, gear, pet, and fuel. Go weigh the truck, especially the rear axle. Don't forget to add 200 lbs for the hitch, if not installed yet. Now compare truck GVWR to trucks total wt. How much is left for payload?

Compare the trucks loaded rear axle wt, to the trucks RAWR. The difference would be maximum pin wt of the new FW.

The contents of our 35 foot fifth wheel weighs about 1,500 lbs. We are not loaded heavy, but have all we normally need. IMHO heavy loading would be about 2,500 lbs, but there are some that could use the entire 3,300 lbs of our fivers cargo carrying capacity.

Easiest way to figure this is to get a bathroom scale and a couple plastic totes. Load the totes and weigh 'em as you load for your next trip, or as if you were going on a trip. Will take some time, but you'll know your number pretty close. NOW, you have to figure where it's all going to go and how it will affect your pin weight. :-)

Look up the dry weight of your fiver, then take it as loaded for travel to a scale and do a two trip weigh.
1st connected all axles TV front and rear fiver pair. Then drop the fiver and re-weigh the TV front and rear. Then add together the TV axles loaded and unloaded, the difference is the fiver PIN weight.
Now add the pin and fiver axle weights to get the fiver total weight loaded, THEN subtract the DRY weight from the Loaded weight, that is the weight of your STUFF!!! It should actually a bit high as most stated dry weights are a bit low.
