Locked inside by entry assist handle

This has never happened to me, but I am concerned.
My fiver has an entry assist handle that folds over
the entry door and locks down. It is designed to
lock down because when folded closed it is hinged
from the left side of door and swings forward.
My concern is that at night someone could easily
fold this assist handle closed over the door and
make exiting the fiver difficult or impossible.
Has anyone ever had this happen ? What if anything
would you suggest to prevent this ? I can't move the
assist handle to the other side of the door because
of the door hinges, and I can't swing it towards the
rear of the fiver because of a slide-out.

  • This DID happen to me, by a child who'd been schooled by us in preventing our pets from escaping: they're all told to close the screen door (easily bumped open by the dog) and then move the assist handle in front of it, because you can just move it back through the slider to get out. BUT NOT WITH THE OUTER DOOR CLOSED! He didn't go far, over to the playground, and I finally screamed him back to open it. Don't know how to fix that, but there usually IS an escape window somewhere, isn't there?
