It can sometimes be a personal opinion. I have owned 3 trucks so far. All had and have a long bed. When I say long , I mean 8feet.First one is a 1981 chevy. I still have it. It will be 34 years old this march. I have kept if as close to new as you can keep one. Everything works and it just turned over 300,000 miles 2 months ago. Now days they consider a 6feet bed long . My second truck was a 1993 chevy . My last one so far is a 2001 Ford F250 super duty. On the 4foot beds, I consider them garbage can haulers. For me they are only good enough to haul a garbage can to the road and back. I have never had any use for a 6 foot bed either. In 1983 I bought a cabover camper. It was on the 1981 chevy, 1993 chevy and the 2001 ford. When I retired in 2006, my retirement gift to me was a 2006 Carriage 5th wheel. Which I tow with my 2001 ford with a airsafe 25k air hitch. You don't even know the 5th wheel is behind you with the air hitch. It is pricey , but it is worth it. It keeps the strain off the truck and trailer when you go down the road.
