The Reese dual jaw hitch doesn't require manual opening or closing of the jaws in order to hitch up. Unlatch the locking handle, back into the king pin...The pin opens the jaws and the hitch closes around them automagically.
One thing is for sure...in all of this discussion a few points of consistency have come out.
1) all fivers can drop regardless of the design...this is due to user error and a high hitch situation.
2) a visual inspection to ensure that the jaws have captured the pin at minimum is required.
I think that about covers it. Anyone else have any points that I missed that are fact?
