Looking for quality 5th wheel under 12'4"

We are looking for a quality 5th wheel under 12'4" in height. The reason is because of the storage area at my house.

We have had a 2005 Hitchiker Discover America that fit, but got the motorhome fever and got a 2010 Winnebago Adventurer with basement air that was 12'3" and it also worked.

Now we have decided to go back to a 5th wheel but do have height restrictions - any suggestions will be appreciated.
  • My new Winnebago Lite Five is 12'6" and very well built for a lighter fifth.
  • Thanks for the suggestions and recommendations.

I will be looking at some of them but it probably looks like I am going to have to spend the bucks to get the roof raised on my cover to get the quality of 5th wheel we would like. Just to be safe will probabably take it to 13'6" on the low side.

    Thanks again and safe travels.
  • Fellow East Texan here.

We have a Jayco JayFlight 5'er that comes in just shy of your limit.

We love it and the quality fit our budget.
  • I wouldn't know about the Tonke, but the Cougar and Jayco are several steps down from your Hitchhiker and I personally doubt you would be happy with them.

With NuWa out of production, and Excel and New Horizon probably also ruled out (price or height), I would suggest looking at used NuWa units.

We went with a special order Fox and it's 12'6", and that is just about as low as Northwood goes (current production models, they have older, shorter rigs)... Although a 27-5L, ordered with the low profile A/C -might- come in at your height.
  • Look at the Cougar by Keystone 12'2"
Just got a 2014 299rks High Country Cougar
