Looking into a 2017 Grand Design

Never heard of this manufacturer until we stumbled onto one recently. Visually the quality seems good, but not sure what is "under the hood". We're looking at a 2017 29RS. Any feedback on quality issues one way or the other would be appreciated.

  • Grand Design has an owners form. If you spend some time on it you'll see that GD is like every other brand in that some have issues and some don't.
  • We have a 2016 GD 5th 303rls and could not be happier. It has been a great rv. Our prior was a Keystone Outback Sydney edition 5th and we enjoyed it but had quite a few problems with it. Electrical mainly and some plumbing. The GD Reflection has not had any problems other than the theater seating love seat started to peel. A quick trip to NFS and we replaced it with an electric reclining love seat from the clearance store for $499 much cheaper and better quality than RV furniture.
  • Owners of GD seem to be generally happy with them and not too many issues. If there is a problem, they fix it. GD is now owned by Winnebago.

  • I bought an Imagine last year, got nothing but good to say about Grand Design.
  • Former motorhomer but new to 5th wheelers yes. I see GD has been around since 2012 as opposed to some of the more recognizable names out there that have been building rvs for decades. Just trying to pick a solid 5er that will serve us well.
  • I take it you are new to RVing. Grand Design has been around for a while and rather popular. We never bothered looking at them as none of their models suited us.
