There is more than one list of noble metals. The following metals are considered noble metals (listed in order of increasing atomic number):
ruthenium
rhodium
palladium
silver
osmium
iridium
platinum
gold

GE tellin' him that the deterioration of his home stove is a "lack of noble metals" problem is just nonsense....as if such materials have EVER been used in a home stove.
Cast iron isn't a "noble metal", and when such stoves were built with cast iron burners, the deterioration complained about didn't exist. Or at least not in the first fifty years of the appliance's life.
