Lube plates

How many of us have had hitching issues using lube plates? The thickness of mine causes a problem.

Yes I have had lube plate issues with my Hensley BD3

Have you tried the Hensley 1/8" thick plate?

Yes I did discuss the issue with Hensley. I purchased the thinner lube plate. I still could not get hitch to latch. I gave up and just used
a product called sip plate to keep plate slippery and reduce friction.
Slip plate seem to do the trick in lieu of a lube plate.

Honestly this was all about 4 years ago when my 5'er was new.
I recently had my fiver raised in the rear to create more clearance at the tail gate. Since then I've noticed the hitch latches a little differently. Inspired by this thread I am going to revisit this issue.
  • Thanks all. Will try a thinner plate. With mine you really have to hitch low to make it work and that scares me thinking it won't latch all the way.

  • Like I have been saying. Hog one out of the bottom of five gallon bucket. Been working for me for years.

I have done so also. The raised circle in the bottom of the bucket happens to be the right size to cut the hole.
