My SeaLand toilet caem with one of those tan, disposable finger nail file/sanding thingys to clean the underside of the seal with. Worked great and I never had to replace the seal.
Yes when it wont hold water in the bowl I use a tooth brush (not mine) and clean it - ksbowmanExplorer III tried some auto transmission conditioner and seal softener on a old toilet and it really helped. Just enough to cover the ball and it doesn't evaporate when left over a winter.
- quickshiftExplorerI use a silicon paste/grease that I get at the plumbing supply store. It comes in a small yellow tub about the size of pill container. I get a full season with one application. Going on 4yrs with the same seal.
- judelaurenzo25gExplorerOne thing I did on my previous RV was, I cleaned the sea with some CLR to removed the calcium and turd deposits. I then lubricated the seal with some white grease and it worked like a charm. The toiled would hold water for days!
- rexlionExplorerI mistakenly read it as "lubing my toilet seat" and wondered why you wanted to sit on something slippery. I pictured you trying to sit down and -whiinnggg- you slide off! :D

Well, I've tried just about everything imaginable on mine, and it still like to stick.
I've tried white lithium grease, Vaseline, WD-40, and even liquid cooking oil.
I have found that simply emptying the bowl and letting it dry, then pouring a couple table spoons of cooking oil over the seals and pushing the peddle a couple times does better, last longer, and is cheap.
I keep thinking I need to replace the seal, but the cooking oil just worked fine, until it rubs off. A couple more tablespoons and back in business for a while again.
Maybe someday, I'll replace the seal.
Thought about the cooking oil, but figured the spa lube (silicon based) would last longer, if it was OK to use. :B

Lyle,
Any silicone based lube will work. I used plumber's grease because it seems to stick to the seal better and last longer. YMMV

For a while. Then you need a new toilet or new seal.
This I know; just trying to put it off as I'm trying to sell. :B
Lyle - Mortimer_BrewstExplorer III've used Thetford Toilet Seal Lubricant and Conditioner without any problems.
