Lubricating the landing gear
I learned on the Montana forum that my landing gear has grease zerks available for lubrication. These are easily accessible from the each of the propane compartments. The zerks are located on the front of the square tube, one near the gears at the top and the other near the nut about half way down. It also has a cover that can be removed which exposes the gears at the top, which will allow grease to be applied directly.
I'm passing this along to those, like me, who didn't know this existed. My previous fiver does not have these fittings, and I never thought to lubricate the landing gear.
This is another example of the lack of documentation that comes with a camper. In my case, the manual is written to cover every model that they make, and there is no reference to lubricating the landing gear.
For a few hundred bucks per model, they could hire someone to write up a model specific manual which would include this type of information. I've lost track of the postings I've seen of folks who were unable to find one of the dump valves or other seemingly obvious features.
Of course, the dealer should go over all of these things, but I bought this unit used from a private party. I bought the previous camper new, and the dealer sent one of their staff to go through the camper with me -- I ended up training her.
