Maxmiller ST Tires

To complete the description it would be fair to say that service descriptions are not required to be on LT or ST tires. The official description for load capacities on those tires is their load range which is required to be on their sidewall information.

However, service descriptions are optional for those tires and many manufacturers will use them along with the load range. Sometimes a manufacturer may opt not to use the service description on tires with dual or more purposes such as the Michelin XPS Rib.

Hmmm, doesn’t that make you wonder why they are not tested to the same degree of difficulty?

Maybe it’s because they are Special Trailer tires and have their own design characteristics. Might also make you wonder why a steer tire is better suited for trailer axle service than a drive tire.

As Tireman9 posted a few years ago. ST tires do not have a service description, which creates the speed rating. So ST tires do not have speed ratings, they have Speed Restriction!

Maybe it’s because they are Special Trailer tires and have their own design characteristics. Might also make you wonder why a steer tire is better suited for trailer axle service than a drive tire.

No it does not, ALL ST tires by design have 65 MPH speed restriction to get their inflated load ratings over similar size tires designed for cars and light trucks. Tire sidewall is most likely branded with 65 MPH Max speed.

Again, that is not the ST Maxmiler!!! That is their Maxmiler CR which is NOT a special/sevice trailer tire. I believe the OP is talking about their ST trailer tire!!!!!!

Reading the fine print: "MAXMILER ST by GT RADIAL TIRES: GuT Radial Tires Maxmiler ST features uni-direction pattern design providing the best wet handling. Flexural vertical grooves and slanting horizontal grooves provides an incomparable self-cleaning function. Special compound for snow tire provides a perfect ice-snow driving performance." They also provide picture of wrong tire!

So I am not sure I would go by much they have on their web site. The manufacture does not list the Q rating.

Hmm interesting.... the tire in the clicky looks like a good all terrain tread tire for the tow vehicle and says this;

IMO not the best tread for a tire in a trailer position.

Continental makes a tire called the vanco that is available in 14 and 15 inch sizes. I was going to use them on my trailmanor but they were OOS when I went to buy them. They are hard to find and are LR D IIRC. Just throwing them out there for argument sake :)

EDIT UH OH I see FE has trumped me on the Vanco LOL :)
