Your talking about to diffrent tires with diffrent load ranges.

GVWR is 18000. Will check Center to Center measurement today. I do know that space between tires is tight so may have to look at the 245/75/16.

One of the new twists I’ve recently encountered with light truck tires is a warranty provision disallowing coverage for LT tires used in misapplications.

If you call or eMail Michelin of North America and give them the tire information off your trailer’s certification label I’m sure they will not recommend the XPS Rib to replace those tires.

There are other options in 16” sizes and many more in the 17.5” sizes. Many of the 17.5” tires are medium duty truck tires designed for low profile trailer service and will have higher speed ratings than the ST tires.

The Goodyears you are looking at are a 110 psi. tire. If you go with these make sure your wheels are rated for 110 psi. The Ribs which I run on our triple axle fiver are E load range and 80 psi. Ribs, I believe only come in E load range.

We decided we didn't want any more failures or more 5th wheel damage and installed Bridgestone Duravis R250 LT 235/85 R16's on our 5th wheel after having two sets of ST tires fail at about 10,000 miles each set. Have about 2,000 miles on the new LT tires and everything seems to look ok so far. .

G614's are most certainly expensive .... we just put 4 new ones on our 5er and so long as they are the only tire we know of that if they explode while being in service for less than 5 years and Goodyear gets back whatever is left, they will pay 100% of the damage repair cost and replace the tire .... over the years we have had 3 tire failures which resulted in damage to the camper .... I'll stick with the brand that backs its product

Ribs are great tires- I have them on two medium sized horse trailers.
Run the G614's on the big horse trailer and the TH. The Goodyear's run 15-20% more per tire than the Michelin's but they have substantially more capacity.

The nice thing about the XPS Rib is that you don't need am HD wheel.
On any new "big" trailers I am only buying units with 17.5" wheels and electric over hydraulic disc brakes.

I have used both the Ribs and now R250's! For 6 tires he can save 300 bucks with the R250's.

Agree with the "overkill" on a 3 axle trailer.

Be sure to check dimensions vs space between the tires via one of the internet size comparison sites.
