As much as I feel bad for the employees these things happen.
This is the way most companies close. There are reasons that employees are not allowed to enter the building. You never know how anyone will react to bad news. The safety of the employees has to be considered.
Not true, even a sudden closing, the correct method is to arrange to escort employees to get any personal property in the building.
You are right I did not mention that. Initially, employees may not be allowed in but they would be escorted in at some time by security. A few plants that closed here did not allow anyone in right away. They were told though that arrangements would be made to collect personal items. Realistically though, to allow a large amount of people in at once with only a couple of security guards might be a concern.
