Monaco

Got a friend got 2008 signature and won’t start. Lights will come on and speedometer goes back forward and tach. Until you turn switch off. But I can go underneath the coach and start on starter. Need help.
  • My Monaco has a remote start switch in the engine compartment.

When looking around back there people often inadvertently flip

    that switch without realizing it.

Mine is about head high on the left side. If I put my left hand up

to support myself that's about where my hand would be

Try posting on this site, a wealth of knowledge on all things Monaco. You will have to join and be approved but that does not take long.

The most likely culprit is the aux solenoid which you'll find near the Starter by following the small pos wire back.
This is a chassis thing and a common failure on a Spartan. The good news is that Spartan usually has a better price than anyone for a replacement.
  • Start with the batteries. Put a meter on them and see whether they're charged (at least 13VDC) Then check if he's been inside the rear run bay. There's two switches inside for a tech to start the coach without going all the way to the front cabin. Make sure it's switched for front and not rear. If it still won't start, turn the key to the ON position and try one of the switches in the rear run bay and see if it'll start......Dennis

    It has road master chassis

It's still going to have an aux. solenoid near the main starter solenoid.
Batteries are obviously good if you can start it with the main solenoid.
I put bypass buttons in the engine compartment for both solenoids, when we got the coach. Not only can I always start it, if the starter is good, but they also troubleshoot to a certain extent.
Beats crawling down under in a rain storm and for possibly throwing sparks everywhere.

On the rear start board ^^^^ there are 2 fuses. One is for the starter and others for the fuel...check them. You can eliminate the front key start by turning the key on and going to the back and try starting from there.
