Montana 3160 RL

We are considering a 2017 Montana 3160 RL and wanted to reach out to other owners before finalizing the purchase. Are you happy with the model and the quality of construction?

If you can live with no refer access with the slides in, then go for it. We are shopping for a new trailer that allows one to make lunch or grab a pop out of the refer without running a slide out. Watch our pin weight! Only the 3000RE has a light pin weight.Chris

Yep, if you don't have 5 seconds to move the slide enough to open the fridge then look for something else. If we are on the road and may need something from the fridge I turn off the other slide in the level up system and that slide will move quick. We thought this might be a problem but it is not.
Also the pin weight may go way up like mine did. It showed the 3100RL at 2545 and mine is 3500. The 3160 shows 2520 and the 3000RE at 2300. We added a washer and dryer along with a huge basement it goes up fast.

  • We have a 2016 3100RL and love it. We ordered with the Legacy package, Goodyear 614 tires and the slide awning package.. Added a washer and dryer along with disc brakes and it has been great so far.
  • We've owned our 37llFL for two weeks so can't comment on long-term. We did a thorough PDI and had 13 issues, with 7 being serious enough not to accept the unit that day. Dealer fixed the 7 issues in two days and I'll probably hit the other 6 very minor issues during our first outing. The unit "appears" to be better built than what we traded in but time will tell; we're hopeful.
  • Don't know about the newer ones. But our Montana bought new in 2007 has been more trouble free than I could have ever hoped for. Keep thinking we will trade for a new Montana, but nothing wrong with this one.
  • 2014 Montana 3150 RL owner checking in! Love our rig. We had some minor issue with two screws not going into the skirting on the slide that was mitigated quickly. Everything else has worked and looked up to expectation. Except the screens on the windows -those drive me crazy. A recommendation. We had Camping World install a integrated surge protector. Highly recommend that upgrade.
  • Alpine's are nice(our Keystone Brother) but they are the same price range and features as a Montana with the LEGACY option but anyway I have owned 3 Monty's a 2004 and a 2012 and my newer 2015 Montana Legacy with minimal Problems and Love them and IMHO they are the best bang for the buck in the 5er world and I fulltime in the last 2 ,are they perfect??? Nope no RV brand is some come off the line and have issues like any other brand but when Montana sells 4 thousand + 5er's a year you hear about them more, as Carl and Susan said Go to the great Montana owners forum for any questions, great folks over there,

  • When we were shopping we really liked the Montanas until we saw the Keystone Alpines at an rv show. Big difference in quality and a fully loaded Alpine was cheaper than an equal optioned Montana.. Alpine is the top of the line for Keystone. After 2 years we still love our Alpine. Check them out before you pull the trigger.
  • Thor quality has generally been questionable at best.
But Montana has generally been pretty good for a mass produced product. When we were looking, we also looked at used units. After seeing several falling apart after about four years, we looked elsewhere.
