We bought a Montana 375FL last year. We love our rig with one exception. The closet is in the tail section and during our travels our clothes that are on a hanger get bounced so bad that they fall off of the closet rod. The shelf also has come loose from the ends where they were mounted. The top shelf has no supports other than where it is mounted along the wall (sides and back). We use a Ford F-250 superduty to do our hauling which I have installed airlift airbags to help reduce some of the bounce but I have yet to see where they are helping with the trailer bounce. Our Montana has the Morryde 3000 suspension system. My question is this, what can be done to reduce the bucking that is going on with our Montana? We afraid that if this continues this well cause damage inside the rear of our new camper. I have contemplated getting a Morryde hitch. Is this the right direction I need to go?

One thing I notice, looking at your profile pic, is something mounted on rear of FW. It may be a scooter, whatever, but any weight added to rear, will cause some bounce. In fact weight added behind axles, will have an affect, such as heavy items in under bed storage, as well as rear closet.This is why toy haulers start out with a heavier than normal pin. It is known that much wt will be added to garage area.Looks like a nice rig, hope you get it figured out! IMO, reducing rear wt, adding pin wt will help.Jerry

You state that the 5er has the Morryde 3000 suspension system, do you have shocks it also?? Many don't think shocks are needed on a 5er, I respond would you ride in a car or truck without shocks?? We installed them on our 32' Copper Canyon and really smoothed out the ride.

One temp solution for your clothes coming of the rod when traveling, is get an adjustable spring loaded curtain rod and place it about 1/2in above the hangers when you are ready to hit the road. Like I said it's a temp fix but it worked for us. Good Luck and Happy Camping !!

While it is not a cheap solution, you can always add the MORryde Independent Suspension. It will give an incredibly better ride hands down!By adding that, you will benefit all around, it will be easier on everything, including the truck..I added it to my last 2 fivers, and have not lost a hanger since ! I even leave the coffee maker on the counter with water in it, no spillage.Just ask the folks that actually added it what their thoughts are, I will be surprised if anyone regrets it.

Shocks on the trailer and replacement shocks on the back of the truck. Bilsteins have better rebound dampening than the stock shocks on your truck and will help your situation.

I had a 35 ft RK with the LRE Mor Ryde susp,always carried 30 gal or so of water
to dampen the rough roads,night and day diff.

The problem you are having is the same as many have with rear kitchens. The rear of a 5th wheel gets to most vertical movement. An air pin box and shocks will help. We threw a bottle of red wine only of a cabinet in out old Terry RK 5th wheel. Dishes were always thrown around in the cabinets.

Think of the 5th wheel hitch as a pivot point and move the trailer up and down at the axles, what happens at the very rear?????? Wine, dishes and cloths goes flying.

Just do what DW does. Bring so many clothes that there is no way anything can move, much less bounce off.:).

yep that is what I was thinking as well ,I do not think you would have this issue if you were towing that 42ft High Country with a 1 ton long bed Dually

How many miles on the truck? Maybe so new stiffer better rebounding shocks are in order.
JMO but part of the problem is it's a light weight 5th thats 42' long. My guess is that you're getting some flex here and there thats transferring to the 5th hitch. That coupled with a shorter lighter weight truck is going to give you the tug'o'war thing. Even if it's stiff enough, 42' is a lot of length and weight thats working against your shorter wheel base truck.

I will get with the folks on the Montana forum. The 375FL was designed for towing with the F250. We run dry with only a little water to flush when needed to keep weight down. The rig tows good just when you hit rough roads you get a lot of bounce in the truck and and camper. Chattanooga has the worst section of interstate that we have to travel on.

Over 42 feet long and possible weight around 16,000 pounds. That is his problem.

Well the OP choice as to tow over GVWR, no skin off my rear.

Still think shocks on the 5er are the way to go as it looks good in your profile.

yeah the closet clothes rod can be fixed easily there have been a few folks on the Montana owners Forum that have reinforced them sometimes at the factory they miss hitting the stud with the screws that attach the rod to the wall but anyway you ought to join the Montana Owners forum and it is free and you will get ANY help you need with your Monty there is a lot of great folks over there and it seems to be less of a problem for us with the Bigger Monty's with the Mor-Ryde LRE4100 suspension mine rides pretty darn smooth and we are full timers and the closet Rod is STUFFED with clothes and we have never had a problem

I have to assume you have not checked out the potiential weight of that trailer? Size and weight behind a 250 the OP has way more problems that a few clothes falling to worry about!
Over 42 feet long and possible weight around 16,000 pounds. That is his problem.

Yes my trailer is level when hitched. If it were up on the front end, the rear of the trailer would drag the rear jacks on unlevel ground. Clearance on the rear jacks is limited.
