Try running some SeaFoam through it. Could just be gummed up carb. Filters and plugs are normal maintenance parts. I change mine every year because I put in excess of 500 hours on the genny each year at the racetracks. The fuel pump should only be changed when you know you have a bad one. Same with the carb. As stated above, just throwing parts at it can get to be a very expensive "learning" experience. If you don't have the manuals, you can get then on eBay for under $20 usually. Some are available from Onan Cummings online.
