Onan gen sputters

My Cummins Onan QG 5500 gen slightly sputters after cold start for about 2 minutes and then runs like a charm. I've changed plugs, fuel filter, oil, and air filter. Altitude setting is correct. I've been trying Seafoam and doesn't seem to make a difference. It has about 1000 hours. Can someone give me an idea of what may be going on before I try a new carburator. Many thanks.

Could be the auto choke is failing.

Thank you..after you posted I did a little research and from my symptoms that appears to be the problem. Thanks again.

When mine did this I manually moved the choke until it smooth out and it stopped sputtering then reset screws to choke body to keep choke in that position. I am not sure how your choke is set up but mine has a bi metallic coil spring inside the choke housing that would slip out out its holding position and would not work until I reseated the coil spring. You can't see this until you open the housing.
