I'm in a very similar situation on my unit. Carb was gummed up and i replaced and now it runs well without load, but under load after a bit it will just shut down. Error code is 36 - "Engine stopped without command"
At this point I'm convinced it is the fuel line - the tank is in the back and the gen is in the front. Rubber line. I don't think it has a leak as it runs clean when not hooked to the carb, but sputters a bit after running for a while.
Next step will be running from an external gas can with clean gas. If that works, I have a job on my hands :)
