OK I'm on this....Here is what I know. Obviously we all know what makes an engine run...fuel,air,spark. I know that this happens and this is where you start. Nasty fuel. If you take apart you lines from and to the engine and if there is any low points junk accumulates...up to the point that it will choke off the fuel supply. Why do I know and why it sputters? The fuel is bubbling by the obstruction usually water and a combo of nasty junk in the line. Have had it happen to me. Condensation and the **** in the line is in there smells like hell. Start there, make sure it is clear. Next, filters. Change it. They are cheap. Next, check the air tube that can have insect blockage if it has one. Next, make sure the air cleaner cover is in place, sounds weird but it will make some run bad. Put a timing light on the plug wire and see what happens...really it is a process of elimination...good luck I know you will find it!
