I'm doubting it's the fuel, fuel line or venting because there was no change when I ran it from a fresh can of gas (pulled the line just before the fuel pump and stuck it in a gas can).
I doubt it's spark because I replaced both spark plugs (Onan, gapped correctly)
I've noticed that when I start it up it doesn't sound quite normal (besides the stumbling and popping). At that moment when it finally actually starts running it almost sounds as if maybe it's only running on 1 cylinder. Maybe I have a broken valve spring or something else in the valve train.
The gen had been getting more difficult to start prior to all of this. And then I was running it with both ACs on for about 15-20 min, it was real hot (like 112) and then all of a sudden got a major pop/backfire and then it basically stalled out. Maybe it busted a valve spring at that backfire moment. It restarted after a few min but has basically been as I described since.
Idk. Am supposed to leave for a few days camping on Wed but have to work Mon and Tue so not much I can do until Wed now.
